The 60’s and 70’s was renowned for the output of some of the worlds greatest music Motown, Philly, Soul, Funk & Blues. It was a period that bought about brand new record labels such as Stax Records who produced fine artists like Otis Redding, Booker T & The MG’s and Sam & Dave to rival the sounds of Berry Gordy’s Motown Records. As one of the highest earning African American businesses the Motown label emerged with a fantastic team of staff and artists that played an important role in the racial integration of popular music. Motown Records and its subsidiary labels including Tamla Motown were the most successful components of what came to be known as The Motown Sound, a style of soul music with a distinct pop influence. Philadelphia Soul with Teddy Pendergrass, Patti Labell and McFadden &Whitehead also played a major part of that whole musical explosion with it’s own unique story. Colin Roy has created an unrivalled compilation of Motown, Soul and Philly hits in a truly outstanding show with songs that will take you on a feel good rollercoaster ride you’ll want to experience again and again.
